CHAPTER 3
- Six sons were born to David
at Hebron.

Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. b. Jabez asled of God to bless him,
expand his territory, and to keep him from evil so he would not cause pain.
CHAPTER 5
- Reuben’s birthright was
given to the sons of Joseph because he had defiled his father’s bed.
- Out of the tribe of Judah
came the lineage of the ruler over Israel (David and his descendants).
- The family of Gad dwelled
next to the Reubenites.
CHAPTER

- Kohath, the son of Levi was
in charge of music in the temple.
- Aaron and his sons did all
the sacrifices of burnt offerings and incense, made atonement for Israel,
and did all the work of the Most Holy Place.

7
- There were eighty-seven
thousand mighty men of valor of the family of Issachar.
- There were fifty-nine
thousand four hundred thirty-four mighty men of valor of the family of
Benjamin.
- Joshua, who led Israel into
the Promised Land, came from the family of Ephraim.
- There were twenty-six
thousand mighty men of valor of the family of Asher.
CHAPTER 8
- King Saul was of the family
of Benjamin.
CHAPTER

The
first to come back from exile were Israelites, priests, Levites, and Nethinim
(temple slaves).
2.
The
gatekeepers were responsible for the gates of the house of the Lord by
assignment to open it every morning. Four chief gatekeepers were responsible
for the chambers and the treasures of the house of the Lord.
CHAPTER 10
- The Philistines killed
Saul’s sons, but Saul, after being wounded, fell on his own sword.
- The Philistines cut off
Saul's head and hung it in a temple of their god and hung the bodies of
his sons also.
CHAPTER 11
- Jerusalem was the city of
the Jebusites. It was called Jebus.
- Three of the thirty renowned
men were honored the most.
CHAPTER 12
- The men of Benjamin could
fight with both the right hand and the left.
- a. The sons of Issachar had
understanding of the times in Israel. b. There were two hundred chiefs and
their brethern.
CHAPTER 13
- David wanted to bring back
the ark of the covenant of God.
- God struck down Uzza for
putting his hand on the ark.
- David left the ark at the
house of Obed-Edom.
CHAPTER 14
- Hiram, king of Tyre sent
David materials to build him a house
- David inquired of God first
before going up to fight the Philistines.
CHAPTER 15
- The Levites were the only
people who could carry the Ark of God.
- David had not consulted God
about the proper order for moving the ark. The ark was to be carried by
the Levites and priests who must sanctify themselves for the task.
- David and his people sang,
danced, and played musical instruments before the ark.
CHAPTER 16
- David appointed the Levites
to give praise, thanks, and to commemorate the Lord God.
- David re-established the
regular morning and evening offerings.
CHAPTER 17
- a. David wanted to build a
house of cedar for God to dwell. b. A son of David would build the house
for God.
- Prophetically, Jesus would
be the son of God and His throne would be established forever.
CHAPTER 18
- David took Gath from the
Philistines and then defeated Moab, the King of Zobah, and Syria after. He
also had treasures from Edom, Ammon, and Amalek.
CHAPTER 19
- Hanun, the son of Nahash the
Ammonite, whose father had showed kindness to David.
- Hanun shamed them by cutting
off their beards and cutting a hole in their garment at the buttocks.
CHAPTER 20
- Three giants of the
Philistines were defeated by David and his men.
CHAPTER 21
- Satan was used by God to
move David to make a census.
- David felt that the mercy
of God was greater than left in the hands of man.
- a. The angel stopped at the
house of Ornan (Araunah), the Jebusite. b. David built an altar there to
stop the plague.
CHAPTER 22
- David’s son, Solomon, was
young and inexperienced and the house of God must be exceedingly
magnificent. So David made preparations for it..
- David was a warrior and had
shed much blood.
CHAPTER 23
- There was no need to move
the ark any longer, so the Levites would be used for services in the
temple.
CHAPTER 24
- Lots were drawn per each
son of Eleazar and of Ithamar, twenty-four in all.
CHAPTER 25
- a. The sons of Asaph,
Heman, and Jeduthun were used for music and songs using cymbals, string instruments,
and harps in the house of the Lord. b. There were two hundred eighty-eight
sons.
CHAPTER 26
- The duty of the sons of
Obed-Edom was to be over the storehouses of the house of the Lord.
- Shebuel, the son of
Gershom, the son of Moses, was overseer of the treasury.
CHAPTER 27
- Twelve military divisions
served under David.
- a. 24,000 men were in each
division. b. Each division served a month at a time.
CHAPTER 28
- If Solomon remained
steadfast in obeying God's commandments, his kingdom would be established
forever.
- If Solomon forsakes God He
will cast him off forever.
CHAPTER 29
- All riches and provisions
for the temple came from the favor of God over Israel’s enemies
- God will test the hearts of
men.
- David requested that God keep
the intent of the hearts of the people to uprightness and to fix the
people's hearts toward God.
- David asked God to give his
son a loyal heart to God, to keep His commandments, testimonies, statutes,
and to build the temple.
