2. a. Onesimus was Philemon's slave. b. Onesimus had run away.
3. Onesimus would serve Philemon better as a worker and now also as a fellow laborer in the Lord.
4. Paul asked Philemon to receive Onesimus as a brother as he would receive Paul and to credit his debt to Paul.
